I have a crown in my mouth. It doesn't feel exactly like my real tooth, but something kind of foreign. If I were to get dental implants, do they feel like real teeth, or do people say they feel like implants are foreign too?

I live in Miami and am thinking of going to this place for dental implants.

The crown over the mini implant should feel just like a crown on a natural tooth...if you are having the sensation that your existing crown feels foreign in your mouth have your dentist check the contour and contacts. It may just be too bulky. Best of luck with your mini dental implants and crowns.

Implants should have the same feeling as crowns. The strange feeling is due to the texture of the crown, which is the same as in case of an implant (there is also a crown on an implant). There is however a minor difference in the different type of crowns, a zirconium crown may feel a little better than a regular porcelain-fused-to-_meta_l one, but this really depends on the person. If you have a strange feeling because the crown does not fit very well, or if you feel pain or irritation, then there is a problem with the crown which should be fixed. People usally get used to their crowns sooner or later. They simply forget about it.

Hi there,

Welcome to this forum. I know a referral site where you can find a dentist near to your area with an easy zip code search. Also you would find similar cases as of yours on dental implants[/url].

Losing a tooth here and there not only induces pain, but it also reduces a person's confidence, Dental implants have grown to be an effective and reliable means of replacing missing teeth and securing bridges and dentures.

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that a periodontist places into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.

Re:Dental Implants 10 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I have a crown and I also experience that "foreign" feeling from time to time. My dentist has checked my bite and the size of my crown, but can't seem to find anything wrong. Could there be a more serious issue going on, such as a problem with my roots? If so, could I get a dental implant with a crown, or would a root canal more than likely be recommended? For some reason I am terrified of root canals, but on the positive side, my dental insurance would cover part of it as opposed to an implant. Thanks!
