I think it largely depends on where you are located and, of course, how much your dentist charges. My dentist tends to be rather expensive compared to others in the area, but I have gone to him for 20+ years and am not willing to change.
Do you have dental insurance? I was told that most of the time dental insurance won't cover the cost of an implant because it is viewed as a cosmetic improvement instead of a necessary procedure. However, I do know people that have dental insurance which covered some of the costs related to the implant, but not the implant itself.
I would go to the dentist that I feel most comfortable with. Try asking friends or family members if they have any input regarding the dentists in your area. Also, assuming you have
dental insurance, it would be a good idea to get in touch with a representative to see what they will cover, if anything!
